And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

The Christmas narrative begins with an expectation of peace. Glory to God in the highest, and PEACE to those on earth.

From the passage we read yesterday, the newborn King lying in the manger is Isaiah’s promised Prince of Peace’.

In our polarized and divided culture, maybe we who follow the Prince of Peace can model what peace, forgiveness and love look like.

The peace associated with the Christmas season is a perfect opportunity for us to practice the peace of Jesus.

"Maybe" by Nichole Nordeman

Nichole Nordeman has released a new Christmas album called Fragile’. There is one song on the album, Maybe’ that offers us a challenge in this season, here are some of the lyrics,

Maybe you’re still angry
Maybe I’m offended
But maybe in the arms of Jesus we’ll be mended

And maybe love is bigger
Maybe love is stronger
Maybe just for Christmas
But maybe longer

PrayerLink to this section

Father, help me to live at peace with myself and those around me,

Carrying the peace of Christ into every environment and conversation.

Jesus, help me to give myself away to others,
being kind to everyone I meet.

Spirit, help me to love the lost,
proclaiming Christ in all I do and say.

Amen
