Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so
There are times I fear we have complicated this simple truth. The letters we have from the Apostle Paul are filled with such deep, rich theology.
Many books have been written and many debates had on all that he said, but if we could paraphrase 1 Corinthians 2, we hear his heart, ‘I deliberately kept it plain and simple, first Jesus and who he is, then Jesus and what he did — Jesus crucified’ Reading Matthew 22, when the Pharisees gathered together trying to catch Jesus out. They asked him of all the laws, all 613 of them, which is the most important. Jesus also makes the complex, simple in his response, ‘Love God, Love others, everything else depends on that!’
We have used the S. I. M. P. L. E. acronym to present the values we hold to as a church. And it describes us pretty well too!
As we start 2020, we are taking the first 6 weeks of this new year, new decade, to remind ourselves of their importance.
