Richhill village celebrates the local apple harvest and the PGI status of the Bramley apple.
Apple Fayre
A unique all-day food festival in it’s eighth year, centred around the importance of the Armagh apple industry. This family fun day out will have top-quality artisan food stalls selling their local produce including apples, Armagh cider, meat, cheese, chutneys, bread, oils, seafood etc.
As well as children’s activities there will be musicians and dancers providing live entertainment. This year we are delighted to have the Swingtime Starlets returning to the stage at the fayre.
🍏 Richhill Village is set to celebrate the local apple harvest and the PGI status of the Bramley Apple at the annual Richhill Apple Harvest Fayre on the 29th October 10am – 4pm.
🍏 Did you know that in 2012 Armagh Bramley apples joined a select group of food and drinks to have been awarded PGI status (Protected Geographical Indication). It is a legal status awarded by the European Commission and is designed to protect and promote the names of high-quality regional food and drinks, and to guard against their imitation throughout the EU.
🍏 For the Armagh Bramley, the PGI award means that only Bramley apples grown in the designated area within Armagh can truly claim to be the genuine article. It is formal recognition that the Armagh Bramley clearly has its own unique taste which distinguishes it from apples grown in other orchards in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
