Community
Waiting is much easier when done in community.
Advent is a reminder that waiting is a communal act.
In Luke 1, we read about Mary and Elizabeth waiting together.
In Luke 2, we read about Anna and Simon waiting in community.
Advent is an invitation to seek out friends on the journey who will help us discern, who will even sit in the silence with us as we seek the heart of God.
Acts 1:4 is the instruction Jesus leaves for those who were following him, that they would wait together until they received what the Father had promised.
Acts 2:1 says ‘on the day Pentecost was being fulfilled, the disciples were all together in one place!
I love Sundays. I love being a part of this Jesus loving community of people. I value the opportunity to worship together, to demonstrate our love for Him by how we love one another. And also the opportunity to wait together, at times in the pain, frustration and silence.
Prayer
Father, thank you for the gift of one another. In our worshipping and waiting together, encourage us with your presence, embolden us with your word, equip us with your Spirit.
Amen
Love you all!
