Brooke and Anastasija share songs that have helped them through trials.
Brooke cherished her quiet moments of reflection and prayer, often retreating to her “prayer closet” to find solace and connection with God, drawing strength from Psalm 18:2. However, her life changed dramatically after she had children, and later when she fostered and then adopted her now-son, Isaiah. These experiences transformed her prayer life, leading her to a constant state of prayer, frequently uttering, “Jesus help me.” In these moments of need, she found comfort in the song Yet by Maverick City, which became a meaningful part of her spiritual journey.
Beautiful Rider by Jake Hamilton is Anastasija’s choice. She says this song helps her focus on God — his wholeness and greatness, even during the times when life is just full of “stuff”.
God
Don’t give up on me yet
I know I’m not Your best bet
But I’m trying
So don’t give up on me yet
And God
Don’t leave me here alone
I know I need to grow still
And I’m trying
But don’t leave me here alone
I know I’ve come so far
But got so far to go
And with these brand new scars
This broken heart
It’s hard to really know
If there’s a reason
And if I’ll ever see it
But I wanna believe it
So don’t give up on me yet
God
I know it makes no sense
You love me time and time again
But I still need reminding
I know it makes no sense
His Grace will never run out
There’s enough to go
’Round and ’round
His love’s an ocean
Where your shame is drowned
If you know what He knows
Then you know
If you know what He knows
Then you know
You won’t give up on me
God
I know I’m not the same
But You knew that I would change
And I think that You’re trying
To tell me it’s okay
How beautiful is the Rider on the white horse
How beautiful is the Lamb that was slain
How beautiful is the Rider on the white horse
Worthy is Your name, worthy is Your name
Our only hope was wrapped in hay
Our Father’s promise to show the way
He lived to set the captive free
And died to live inside of me
He is Savior, He is Lord
Immanuel, the Living Word
There’s a man who’s wrapped in light
With eyes of fire burning bright
With feet like bronze and a blinding glow
A golden sash and hair like snow
He is King and He is Judge
He is mercy and He is love
You’re a Lion, You’re a Lamb
You’re a Lion, You’re a Lamb
You’re a Lion, You’re a Lamb
And all creation bows before
